It comes down to munging a new global ingame.lvl with a very slight modification.
1. Create a new world
2. Go to your world's directory once it is finished munging and find ingame.req in the Data_xxx/Common folder
3. Open ingame.req using Notepad and scroll down until you find "com_sfx_buffed_defense" and "com_sfx_buffed_offense" ... delete both of these!
4. Munge
5. A new ingame.lvl will now be found in the _LVL_PC folder of your map's directory...copy it, then replace the ingame.lvl found in the _LVL_PC folder of the actual Battlefront 2/GameData/Data directory (backup the old one just to be safe)
Voila! No more stupid blue halo and red lightning. You'll still earn the awards just as before, you just won't see or hear any effects when you do so. I hope this is helpful.
This is actually really awesome news. I've spent a long time trying to fix this. Then I fixed it up with my own shell but that was because I disabled the ability to earn points. So.......that sucked.
Whatever. Linus, remember what I said about Junior Moderating and posting useless posts. Sawyerdk9, If I remember right, I've pmed you about the avatar problem.
No, the award effects are pointless. As the people that have already posted in this thread pointed out, there a handful of solid reasons for wanting to get rid of them. This was a rude thing to say, and not very encouraging for a new poster like myself.
what IS annoying is that he was trying to get a last word to his defence even though - as he clearly stated as well - many people have said how useful it can be.
Both should be ashamed!
But yeah - I'm getting annoyed by those awards as well
After you have downloaded it, run the .exe and install to the C: drive. (or, whichever drive BF2 is on)
Then, after installation, Go to C:\BF2_ModTools\documentation and read the Getting Started.doc located there. It will answer most of your questions about....Getting Started (*shrugs*).
