Reviews 2142 beta

Post by Guest »

This is guru btw, i had posted this b4 i added permissions to the forum. Anyone else have feedback on the beta , feel free to post it here.

My thoughts are few as Ive only tested for about 20 minutes. 1 map verdun, the titan gamemode. Cooler then cool vehicles. Interesting new weapons for everything. Still looks like the bf2 engine but with nice future touch to it. Large map with some great areas setup. Ships are awesome. More lag on most server then a 1988 pentium 1 running 5 versions of oblivion on 64mb ram but still there seemed to be alot going for this game.

Ill try again later with lower settings. Also for those who wondered, yes shared beta keys work fine, i promise ;)

this area will be used for all bf2142 related topics.

They probably could, but realistically you'd want at least a GB of RAM and a 256MB video card. I reckon you'd be okay though.

Cool. I can turn down the graphics or something. I tried BF2 on my computer once and it wouldn't go to the menu because of some sound card issue. I hope that's not recurrent, I think it's fixed.

I didnt really like it :\.

I hated the gunships that replaced the choppers.
I could shoot down one of those gunships anyday with my AH1Z :\

I liked the tanks and the ground stuffs though, very cool!

But overall I still like BF2 more :(

honestly i think it the bf2 engine, lol , all the modding and files look to be the same modding standards just new fluffy game modes and models (as usual with bf titles).

Btw those who wondered about using 128 mb vid and 512 mb ram , i am using an uber system with 512 mb vid and 2 gig ram 3.4 ghz system with top of the line everything and 2142 on mid settings runs like an old lady in a walker in a tornado. Messsssssy & choppy & slow. It was almost playable until another person actually joined the server then it basically was a photograph from then on.

More than likely that's because it's a demo. They always turn down the system requirements at release.

Yeah, It has exactly the same system requirements as BF2

And guru, I was in a server with a green latency symbol, (I couldnt find the ping anywhere), and I was getting lag. And I was the only one in the server.

I was also very dissapointed with the gunships.

They handle like boats.

When I can do flips and rolls at like 100 feet in the choppers in BF2 to avoid fire. The gunship TV missiles suck too. AND you cant solo the chopper. (Fly, switch to the gunner seat and fire a guided missile, hit a target, then switch back to the pilots seat.) But then again I dont know why anyone would want to use those missiles :?

A cracking good cheap card as not let me down yet i know it will be stretching it's even with a bit off overclocking and fear of getting a bit tad to hot.If it aint broke don't fix it...

Guru it would seem that the beta of BF2142 is very un-optimized. However, it would also seem that (like BF2) there can be any number of technical problems that cause you low preformance.

The Recommended system settings for the game are slightly higher than the original BF2 but not by much. The basic motto is if you can run BF2 at decent settings, you'l run BF2142 at decent settings.

Yea, imo the beta is really unstable

I mean I'm in a server by myself which has a green latency level, and I'm was getting tons of lag. It will most likely imporve considering its the same game as BF2 pretty much, and BF2 you dont have that much lag unless your in a server with an 80+ ping.

^This might be because the beta was a older version, then latest build (almost release time) has been cleared of most preformance issues.
