GMOD troubles
I downloaded GMOD 9 recently, and the menu is broken. When I click "start singleplayer game" nothing happens. What went wrong? How can I fix this?

Re: GMOD troubles
Do you have Counter-Strike Source? It needs that, at least, and I'm assuming other games if you want new models, maps, etc.

Well, for Gmod 9 you NEED CS:S. Gmod 10 works fine with The Orange Box, though.

Re: GMOD troubles
Which is well worth it, cos it's not that expensive, got a lot of great new stuff, and more and more being made daily.
However
You can actually play Gmod9 without CS:S. I did, before Gmod 10 was released. Go to where you installed gmod9, then into "mods" and delete the css folder (I forgot the actual css folder name, you'll figure it out I'm sure).
Obviously, you won't have any CS:S content. (then again, neither does Gmod 10 without CS:S)

Wait, no. There's another problem.
Whenever I try to open up Half-life 2 or Gmod9, I get a pop-up that says "Validating file" and once it reaches 18%, like clockwork, it says "The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request. Try again in a few minutes." And I've been getting this for days. (Team Fortress 2 nd Portal still work though.)

Re: GMOD troubles
There could be several causes (steam is know for annoying bugs), first thing you should try is exit steam, go to ste steam folder and delete ClientRegistry.blob, then restart it. If that doesn't work, you might have to reinstall steam or even HL2...
Unless somebody else knows a fix?

Re: GMOD troubles
you could actually copy the "SAVE"-folder before you deinstall hl2. once you are deinstallintg it it doesnt ask whether you wnat to keep your savegames, if found that out today when i moved it to another partition >.<
