You might admit that attention to minor details seperates good modders from great ones. For Dark Times 1, I believe, Mav made a few new torpedo meshes for the space battles. Looking over the weapons, they still seem a bit too boxy for my tastes.

And there have been other great models by great modders who were apparently not as detailed themselves, and were used heavily.
(take the westar blaster pistol for example, the model was awesome, but the skin, IMO, somehow was lacking something....)
(then there is the DC-17 ICWS, which looks like it is slightly a mess, but is used by all, and its not that bad)
Trust me, *attention to minor details* was the criteria I set for these weapons. If u play KOTOR and take some snaps, you will notice lots of similarities(or not, since its a low poly count)
The handles are not that essential as a minor detail criteria. They were boxy there, they will be boxy here (and honestly they arent THAT boxy) In the end, I don't really pay much attention to handles anyway...
