I've been working on converting some of my favorite items from CWA into objs with mtl texture files. If these aren't allowed, sorry. I have also put screenshots, full size, in their respective folder. If anyone gets these working in the game, I really would love you to leave a link here so I can see it work :) I haven't learned how to get objs into the game...

The first one I figured out how to do: Ithorian https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing

Given the Clone Wars Adventures assets were shared here, I personally don't know why they would be against other people uploading them converted to more conventional formats.

By the way, we're calling Star Wars Galaxies fair game, too. I don't know if that was ever made clear. SWG has been officially offline for years, and the assets are too old to be of use for future Star Wars games.

Just out of curiosity, what is considered fair game now?

Well a safe bet would be any games no longer playable (aka Clone Wars Adventures) and anything released the same year as Battlefront II or anything older. The only exception would be that we should probably use very little from KotOR games as Bioware supposedly owns some of those rights.

Here are some examples:
  • Jedi Outcast/Academy (older than SWBF2)
  • Revenge of the Sith (also released 2005)
  • Galaxies and expansions (last expansion released 2005)
  • Clone Wars Adventures (MMO game no longer available)
  • X-Wing Alliance (check out xwaupgrade.com for update ship models)
  • Empire at War (yeah, it's 2006, but it's still old)
  • Bounty Hunter (2002)
  • Republic Commando (2005)

I could compile a list if that's handy.

Okay :) I'll have a look into other games released in the same period of similar quality/platforms.

Just a query. Given the quality is lower than SWBF/SWBFII (with one exception), would Elite Squadron/Renegade Squadron be an exception or should we keep those models off here for the time being? I've had a talk with Rebellion regarding possible asset use before and they said that as everything was brought to them (from FR's SWBFIII) they own nothing and that would all sit with LucasArts.

IIRC SWG was recently declared freeware?

Nothing is ever actually freeware. Normal people decree it so, but companies never do.

J don't see an issue with it. The PSP is a dead platform now as well. In fact I've thought about using an emulator and a 3D ripping program to rip and remake the levels but I don't know how that would turn out. Plus most of those maps were pretty bad.

Well, I actually tried to use Ninja Ripper to do just that, but the UVs are screwed up and Ninja Ripper rips the levels into tiny pieces, and usually only what's on the screen, which is not handy at all. At the moment, I have just kept it to ripping character models such as the X1 and X2 models from the title.

What I would have done if I could have successfully ripped the meshes would have been to rebuild the maps as they were in SWBFIII. Coruscant was similar but different at the same time (they just mirrored one of the CPs, shrunk the skyscraper area and closed in the pillar areas though the videos of SWBFIII also show things such as an accessible caintina)
