Problem with BF 2142 (major)

Hello, I just recently bought the game and I made sure my system was up to specs pretty well and tried out the demo (which worked perfectly well),
Well I installed the game and updated it, I put it at the highest setting just to see If my computer could handle it...NOPE, so I tried out a medium setting, NOPE...Then desperately I put it on the lowest settings ( all of it) and it lagged....

-Here are my specs, I think it might be my RAM or CPU but I don't know.......

Celeron (R) CPU 2.66 GHZ
640 MB of RAM
GEFORCE 7800 GS OC 256 MB -most recent video driver
total 100 GB of Hard drive space

-I think that's all the important stuff...

-I contacted EA but I'm not expecting a response for maybe a week ( they're having a flood of things people have sent them)

-Tell me what you think my computer's problem is please....

=THANKS IN ADVANCE

It should handle it. The v1.01 patch was a little buggy to install but if the demo worked ok for you then I couldn't see why it shouldn't work. Try resetting the display settings to default ones first and then see what happens. Thoroughly test it on single player mode (lag can also be caused by other things). if it's all ok then fiddle with the video settings, it's a good starting point should EA get back to you.

wel, to be honest, by reading you specs.... try to compare you HW with the minimum on the back of the DVD pack, and you will se your stuff is only mariginal...
oh, and by the way, since you run Gforce, have you installed the Nvidia control panel? if so check if it is set for quality over preformance,it has a tremendouseffect on game prefromance , it worked for me, and you could also try to dfrag you harddrive, or, try to not run too many programs since you ram was quite small, RAM is as we know what shares the data, and if theres many other programs runnin, and you start BF, it will be bad.
press you Ctrl-alt-del, and check the list and se if you can find some programs that are unneeded...
good luck
(ps, running low graphics are actually a good thing, you get into server much faster, since game only need to render flimsy graphics, oyu get in faster)

640MB of RAM just isn't enough I'm afraid. 2MB is what you really need, but I run OK on medium settings and texture quality high at 1MB of RAM.

Just for the record, never try a game at full quality first ;)

LoL, my first spelling mistake at GameToast; a night to remember! :D Anyone who has 1 MB of RAM has been seriously ripped off by their sellers ;).

I always try to run a game at full quality first. If I enter a brand new game with default settings (usually low/medium) I get disappointed with the graphics and never go back to it again, LOL.

XD, Me too I cannot stand the low res "everything", but seriously, if I got 1 GB more so I have 1.5 GB, would that be good? I don't wan to waste money......

EDIT: you know EA hasn't contacted me yet , it's been over 24 hours....

The discuission of requirements is in a old topic.

Try this link http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest A good little site which will tell you what is needed and will offer any updates for your system.Look at the results page and it will give the minimum and the recomended, you need to check the recomended this will give you an indication on to what is required from your system to run

My systems is very minimum
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200(Over clocked)
it works
: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2600+ ~1.6GHz
it works
1.2 gb ram

I seem to get by with these although all settings i run low to avoid lagg issues

oh, it's telling it's my cpu speed, 3 GHZ reccomended amd I have 2.66 GHZ, and it doesn't know anything about my cpu type (celeron)....

Is there any reason it seems to run 20 frames faster online instead of single player?
