In something of an unexpected move, Disney has reactivated the online for Empire At War, and added Steam Workshop and mod support.
You can now mod Empire At War (as well as playing it online)

Yeah, I think I'm gonna buy the Steam version soon (even though I already have the Gold Pack DVD).
