Re: Zero Editor Runtime Error in Vista & Win7

Post by DarthFannel »

Does ZE work for you? NO
What edition of Vista or Windows 7 are you running? Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
What graphics card are you currently using? nVidia GeForce GTX650 OC
What's the current driver version of your gfx card? 331.82
What version of Microsoft .NET Framework do you currently have installed? v1.0.3705, v1.1.4.322, v2.0.50727, v3.0 and v3.5, v4.0.30319

BUT, I just gave the runtime error so I am out of luck right? when I use 3D Analyze it fails to inject some dll thing and the like.

Does ZE work for you? Yes.
What edition of Windows are you running? Windows 8 64-bit.
What graphics card are you currently using? NVIDIA GeForce 610M
What's the current driver version of your gfx card? 331.93

Nothing worked, except moving the Mod tools to C:/SWBF2_ModTools.

Zeroediter crashes on start. [Solved]

Post by commanderawesome »

When I click on it, the load screen comes up and then I get the standard windows XP "zeroediter.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." error screen. I have the fan favorites version of battlefront II installed in the default directory (C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\Star Wars: Battlefront II).

PC Specs:
System:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Computer:
Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.99 GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM
Phyical Address Extension

I can't find info about my graphics card (Seriously hoping that's not the issue).

Have you tried running it as admin?

Have you tried using 3DAnalyze with emulate Hw TnL Caps checked?

For easier use, you can save it as a batch file (located at the bottom of 3DAnalyze). Then, you simply run the batch file and ZE opens.

On XP, usually just Changing your display Color quality settings to Highest 32 bit solves it.
Hidden/Spoiler:
1. Navigate to the Control Panel by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel window, open Display.

Note: Depending on how Windows XP is setup on your system, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

3. In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.

4. Locate the Color quality drop down box on the right-hand side of the window. Under most circumstances, the best choice is the highest "bit" available. Generally, this will be the Highest (32 bit) option.

Note: Some types of software require the color quality settings to be set at a lower rate than suggested above. If you receive errors when opening certain software titles be sure to make any changes here as necessary.

5. Click the OK or Apply button to confirm the changes. If prompted, follow any additional on screen directions.

I already did that. It wasn't the problem, but the point is moot because the issue is resolved.

I'm glad you got it working, but you never said what you did or didn't try. We have a thread stickied at the top of this forum with the same information posted in this one. I'll end up merging the two threads eventually.

Post by 543regiment »

Does ZE work for you? No, I've got the Runtime Error
What edition of Vista or Windows 7 are you running? Windows Vista Home Premium
What graphics card are you currently using? Nvidia GeForce gt610
What's the current driver version of your gfx card? 9.18.13.1106, the newest one
Are you running 32 or 64 bit? 64 bit OS
What version of Microsoft .NET Framework do you currently have installed? 1.1 and 3.5

I've tried everything, using 3dAnalyse, using XP Emulators, dual-booting (that messed my PC up).
Another thing is how I could check my Visual Basic C++ library, and which is the required version for Zero Editor.

The exe mentions these:
  • Microsoft .NET Runtime
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    d3d8.dll
    d3d8d.dll
    D3DX8 Shader Assembler Version 0.91
    etc
The strings suggests this was developed around DirectX 8.x (Nov 12, 2000-2002).

I use XP Pro but this is whats on my system:
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (Driver - 6.14.0013.1422)
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
    Microsoft .NET Famework 1.1
    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

    DirectX Components (for comparison)

Thanks for your suggest, but trying to install DirectX 8 drivers didn't solve the problem. :faint:
I've believe that's a GPU Driver Problem. Some drivers of some cards seem not to be compatible with Zeroeditor, but BF2 works perfectly. I'm wondering if Integrated GPUs (like Intel ones) are compatible with Zeroeditor.

Yeah, got lucky! :D

Can you munge? Yes, with RAM fix
Does ZE work for you? Yes
What edition of Vista or Windows 7 are you running? Win 8.1 Pro
What graphics card are you currently using? Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600
What's the current driver version of your gfx card? 10.18.10.3349
Are you running 32 or 64 bit? x64
Not needed: Changing display color to 32 bit, compatibility mode for ZE, ZE with 3D-Analyze

I've used an integrated Intel GPU before and I had to use 3DAnalyze to get it to work.

Does ZE work? NO
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
Gfx card driver: I've tried 314.14, 320.18, and 332.21
.NET versions: v1.0.3705, 1.1.4322, 2.0.50727, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0.30319****

It doesn't work when running as administrator, any compatibility mode, 3d analyze, or any combination of the above.

****When I checked the .NET versions installed using the method described in the first post of this thread (checking version of mscormmc.dll), I found that the v3.0 and v3.5 folders did not have this file in them. I'm not sure if this means they aren't installed (correctly) or if they just don't have that .dll. I also found that the version of the mscormmc.dll in the v1.0.3705 folder was 2.0.50727.

Im 99% sure that I had ZE working several months ago on this computer, but when I tried making a map last month, it didn't work. I thought it might have been an issue with something related to c++ runtime that installed since it last worked, so I removed everything since then but ZE still didn't work.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone's done this already or if it'll even help, but I looked at the .exe with a hex editor and found the runtime error; the error code was r6016 - not enough space for threaded data.

Here's another one for ya:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, ZE does not work on this computer, which is a laptop.
Operation System: Windows 8, Version 6.2, Build 9200
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, although I control graphics settings using the NVIDIA Control Panel, which came installed along with my computer.
Graphics Card Version: 9.18.10.3071
64-Bit Operating System
Microsoft .NET Framework: v4.0.30319
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried running ZE as an admin, in all of the compatibility modes, with 3D Analyzer, with 3D Analyzer as an admin, and after re-installing/downloading it.
I have seen that changing color mode/options to 32-bit may fix it, although I am unsure on how to do this using a Windows 8 computer.

Thanks for any possible help in advance,
Corogl

What Visual Studio Runtime Packages are you referring to? Where can I find these?

EDIT
Update:
After installing the 2012 Runtime packages as the above post says, I am actually able to get past the Pandemic logo into ZE, although it instantly closes. Has anyone else had this issue and possibly fixed it?
