Re: Fallout
Some on my list of perks go all the way back to the original Fallout, so I'll list them in no particular order and give reasons.
Trigger Discipline: I pick this, not just because of the accuracy, but it puts me in the mindset of being conservative when it comes to firing my weapon. I want the ammo to count unless I am giving suppression fire. However, I do have to say there's those "uh oh" moments where the "fire everything you've got" mentality is appropriate at the time. It contributes to my roleplaying moods.
Kamikaze: Usually, from my roleplaying standard, my characters tend not to have anything to lose anymore, so they typically do daring stunts that would get them killed. Do I die in playthroughs from this sometimes? Yes, but somehow I get lucky when I use this perk for the most part.
Survivalist: I think this should be self-explanatory. I want to be able to use the resources that are left in the world. If I have no companions with me, this is useful and essential to me. In a post-Apocalyptic world, this would be one of the things you would probably pick. You don't want to die do you?
Strong Back: This proves useful, especially since I'm one of those 'ooh shiny' kinds of people in RPG's, but I've gotten better about that over the years.
But the extra 50 lbs helps.
Rad Resistance: Need I say more?
Master Trader: When I'm strapped on cash, I don't want to be ripped off. I want to be able to get good deals (who doesn't?). If I can get away with enough caps to live a few extra days, I think trading skills for me are a must.
So far, this is it.
Edit: Started a new game. Jim's story still stays but I think I'm keeping his loadout and look for awhile. Cigarettes are bad for you, I know, but I figure something would kill Jim far long before the long term effects come in. Either way, he doesn't expect to live long in a cruel world like this. Call it a survivalist mentality, if you will.
Anyways, some screens of Jim showing off his arsenal and attempting to find a job on the bounty board.
Showing off his Pre-War Service Rifle (M1 Garand. This one chambered for .308 Winchester)
His 9×19mm Pistol
Remington 870 (sawed off)
MP412 REX
Looking for work. A building he hasn't noticed near Novac before.
Bounties? That's more like it!
Apparently they didn't have any jobs available at the time, but he was pointed toward Goodsprings since he was looking for bounty hunting work. With virtually no water left and barely enough food, he has but no choice to continue to Goodsprings. He's only really been there once before when he passed through to deliver one of six courier packages to New Vegas. Last time he's seen Goodsprings, it was at night with 3 mysterious figures walking past him toward Primm from Goodsprings' cemetery. He thought it a bit suspicious at the time, but felt he was just over-analyzing again and continued with his business. After delivering his package, he was escorted out of the Strip (by escorted, I mean thrown out. Basically, "thanks for the package. Now get out.") and spent the night in a ruined building in Freeside. He decided courier jobs weren't really his cup of tea and was more an expense than it was a profit, so he gave up on it and became a bounty hunter. Now he's wandering about looking for jobs, but apparently even the bounty hunting scene seems a little boring to him...at least until he got the message that there maybe work in Goodsprings waiting for him. So right now that's where he's headed.
The following screens are a bit graphic (17+ Rated M content. Some gore. You have been warned. Plus, you know....Fallout.).
An NCR Patrol was ambushed by some Viper Gunslingers. Jim managed to take down one.

Re: Fallout
Got done shooting up some super mutants at Germantown Police HQ last night.
But played some more NV just earlier today. Some more screens and more guns! With some new apparel.
Starting off, got a bit nostalgic. Bigger classic-style Vault numbers. Specifically, the Vault that started the series....
Vault 13! This one is the armored variant (shown in a cinematic in the first game).
Anyways, moving on from that. Jim grabbed a Lee Enfield No. 4 rifle from the Mojave Express office. Guess Johnson Nash was expecting those convicts, but forgot to grab it going out the door.
Not that he needed the scope (iron sights are good enough for me but it helps with extra recon), or the help (ended up sending Boone back to Novac. Jim is the loner type, after all), but yeah
Nice view of a gecko in the last moments of its miserable existence.
Jim figures a bullet will find his cranium far long before he gets lung cancer.
Scarves are cool.
Ithaca 37
AK-47
Made something quick. If Jim is going to make his mark, he needs a recognizable image:
From the chaotic DFW area of the Texas Commonwealth (comprised of former states Arkansas and Texas) to the sinful Mojave, Jim continues his massacre of any raider he sees. He's not killing them for justice, no. Even if it were, it'd be more a personal justice than anything else. He feels he isn't shooting enough of them, really.

Re: Fallout
A familiar grave up in Goodsprings Cemetery.
I knew this guy was trouble. Had my shotgun ready (warning: bloody).
NCR waving their old flag.
They weren't using their brains, so I decided the best use for them was to redecorate the landscape.... (warning. Gore/blood!)
Blue moooooon, you saw me standin' alooooooone.....with a rifle in my hand.... and blood that's not my own....
Still heading out to my target....I had to previously fight a whole group of Viper Gunslingers, tons of cazadors (I HATE THESE THINGS), fire geckos, and radscorpions.
Upgraded my 9mm pistol to the classic Colt 6520 10mm found in most western coast and core region areas.
Any campfire songs? No? Oh right, I killed you and stripped you of your outfit....
West side Vegas ruins in sight, Fiend territory, but Jim needs to get back and return his target's trigger finger as proof of the termination of the bounty....
Jim looking awesome!

No need for you to EVER search for a stealth boy due to the fact that you are able to generate a stealth field yourself.
2. Built to destroy:
Do i need to say anything more?
Hidden/Spoiler:
3. Jury Rigging
Nothing is better if you can cross repair armors and or weapons.

Re: Fallout
Why have I not mentioned my favorite Fallout playing Youtuber? AlChestBreach? You reminded me of him Revan when you mentioned your hatred of Cazadors. He loathes them and the Legion assassin party that attacks him each and every video he does.
He's one of my favorite YouTubers, I highly suggest checking him out. Very hilarious crazy man who lives on the moon and works at a box factory.
Language warning.
Here's a playlist of The Best of Al. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2kwlBHm ... 49&index=9
However the guy who made this playlist did it backwards, 9 to 1, so you'll have to do so as well. It'll give you a taste for his hilarity.

Re: Fallout
I do love AlChestBreach, been subscribed to him for a long time. Hilarious indeed.
I had the misfortune of having to reload my game at least 3 times because a stupid cazador came out of nowhere and poisoned me, injured three of my limbs, and even after I had killed all 3, I ran out of anti-venom beforehand from ANOTHER encounter and I slowly died...

Oddly enough I still haven't gotten to trigger any of the addon quest lines yet and I've had Ultimate Edition of FONV for awhile.
I'll have to take that perk for a test drive by the way. I love shotguns in CQB!

Re: Fallout
Sorry if this is a bit of a thread hijack, but I'm looking to get into the Fallout series. I only have enough money to buy one of the legendary editions, however. The general consensus of people I asked at school was that Fallout: New Vegas would be the better choice to get the full edition. I plan to get Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Any thoughts pertaining to this situation? Is this the best choice?

Re: Fallout
It's a tough choice for someone just getting into Fallout. I got in via Fallout 3, and now I love all of them. Except Brotherhood of Steel but that one doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.
I want to say that Fallout 3 has the better atmosphere and main story. But New Vegas is just a lot more fun to play in my opinion, and the DLC is a lot better. So pick whichever you'd prefer which those descriptions. You'll get more of your money's worth with New Vegas because all 4 of the DLC ranges from good to amazing.

This. Also, New Vegas is pretty much a direct sequel to Fallout 2 (as Obsidian has said), though, rather than 3 (don't let the number confuse you).
I got into Fallout from FO1, which requires a different mindset because of the different playstyle, and is a real challenge regardless of the difficulty (or I just suck at FO1 and FO2 or am just unlucky. Or...I just suck at point allocation.

Fallout: Tactics was also fun, but I only got a mission or two in. It is rather fun to control a squad, but has elements which could contradict canon sources.
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, to me, doesn't exist. I'll just say the locations mentioned in it exist in the lore, but the game itself.....eugh. Saw enough gameplay of it to make me want to throw myself into a deathclaw's den.
To me, New Vegas feels more like they went back to their roots, and I would say to get that before 3, but 3's still fun of course, don't get me wrong. For now, I would personally recommend Fallout: New Vegas.

Re: Fallout
Cress when choosing between fallout 3 and fallout new vegas its a really tough call like everyone said but I have something extra to say. Both games are REALLY fun they are both excellent. However when I started I played fallout 3 and moved to new vegas. Out of the two I feel fallout 3 IS PERSONALLY my favorite and I think if I had played new vegas first i may not have played fallout 3 NOT SAYING fallout nv is bad this is all just my opinion. Anyhow yeah thats my input and im gladd to see someone else is getting into fallout

Re: Fallout
REivEN, I would be honoured to give it a go sometime. Will PM you asking for more details. I don't know how soon I'd be able to get back to you with feedback as I don't have days off until Saturday and Sunday.
And yeah, Tiki. (mind if I just call ya Tiki?) I suppose you're correct. I would never down anybody for their personal favorite game in the franchise. Now as far as my favs go, it'd be a tie between 1 and 2, followed by Tactics, and then New Vegas, and finally 3. Only if I HAD to choose. I love them all, to be honest.
To me, some of the features from the original Fallout and 2 in terms of detail and gameplay are superior to some games today (not limited to Fallout franchise here). I don't know how I could explain this reasoning, but I guess I like the good 'ol isometric turn-based RPG style of games. There were some details that some games today fail to show as compared to some games from the late 90's. Again, it's tough to explain. It could just be the way my perception works with 2D vs 3D constructions? It could just be massive feelings of nostalgia overwhelming me as well.
