Phase I TCW "Cody" Visor

Post by CodaRez »

Hello again GT!

Well I have also been working on this little gadget too, cus I realized the community may need it, but no one wants to go into detail of a visor that a unit just HAS won't they? Well I did that for you guys. I present:

Cody's Phase I Visor

Kudos to B.I.G_Cookie for the Cody skin.

Hehe, sry for humongous size

Quite accurate eh? Except maybe thickness of visor itself, but you be the judge.

The camera light apparently glows, but to see the gleam you need to look more closely, which you probably will never get the chance to :( .

You CAN edit the texture, which uses a slightly basic guideline(text). This is for those who want this for other clones(i.e. Commander Fox)
But you MUST credit B.I.G_Cookie if you edit it also k.

This is an Addon .msh/hex-edit mesh, read the readme on how to apply it to a model.

And it only works for PHASE I CLONES. NO OTHER MODEL BUT THOSE, got it?

Ah well, I can't keep you long

EDIT: Ok, for those annoyed with the hole, get THIS addon:

Hole Filler Link: http://www.filefront.com/14738675/VHF.exe

Attach it to the clone with the visor and the hole should be filled.
Its a separate addon .msh, so I advise using DEVISS_REX's visor hex-edited cody as a host(cus a model can't handle 2 addons)

CREDITS:

-Me, CodaRez, for the model itself
-B.I.G_Cookie, seriously couldn't have done it without him, for the incredible texture, also finding vital ref screenies
-Said screenies were originally from AlexSecura, kudos to him too.
-Wookiepedia, for other ref pics too
-Rep's Meshtools, for glow
-Mande and Ace, for the addon mesh tut
-DEVISS_REX for creating the hex-edited visor version, making life easier for you all
-Pandemic......period
-And the happyhappy community of GT

So, enjoy the shades 8)

Just curious, why only Phase 1 Clones?

Probably with this model, the helmet has to be the right shape in order to look right.

doesn't look like a hole, looks like a white part of the visor. there is no depth to the yellow part there if it is a hole, you would see the inner edge, like on the outer edge.

it looks great though!

These look great. Is it possible to have more than one animated addon mesh?

It's definitely a hole. I just resized that part, hard to see but you can see the inner edge. LucasFilm fail.

then shouldn't the reference look more like that? (PSE edit)

in both of these unaltered screenshots, the lighting is different on the white part on the visor, and the white part of the helmet behind it, i think it is in a depression, just not all the way through.

The new model still looks great though. :D

Heh, nice detective work.

The model is simple but (mostly) flawless. The in reality hole-lessness of Cody's visor has been revealed, but it's such a minor detail that it really doesn't matter, IMO.

God i always get so upset with these kindoff discussions.. Around 8 posts about a freggin hole! Do you see a difference? Below the hole is probably just white, the hole is so small, i would hardly notice it.. The model is quite simple, yet quite detailed for such an addon, it looks very good in my opinion, good job!

This probably took a 'hole' lot of yourself? ;) Keep making these lovely small models Coda

Honestly, people, who cares if it's a hole or not? get over being 500% cannon all the time and just say thank you for an excellent addon.

Sry for the immense bump
But:

Well, the controversy of the hole thing was small. But oh well.

Just incase for anyone(and by the sole law that I have too much free-time) I whipped up a 5-minute addon .msh that should fill the hole in the visor.
Its a separate addon because I believe some people would be just comfy with a hole in a visor
*shrugs*
(and I am lazy :P )

I suggest you use it with DEV's visor hex-edited troopers.
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 64&t=20621
Kudos to you dude.

And I don't advise using it as a lone addon msh(as it is afterall, just a cube :? )

Sry for interupting your modeling experience.
Move along
And we wish you a pleasant modeling 8)
