Re: Bumpmapping tut
you just use the meshtool
but you need to create the bumpmap and call it modelname_bump

Re: Bumpmapping tut
I think it is a texture. Anyone that want to share how you make a bumpmap texture?

Re: Bumpmapping tut
I can
Small step-by-step tutorial about bump mapping objects:
1. Create you texture, here is the texture for the left blade of the clone assassin I made:
2. Then you create another texture/layer and fill it with the color "888888" (if you need things only bumped in, fill it with white, if only bumped out, fill it with black) the bump map has to have the same layout as the texture
3. Now color the parts that have to be bumped in with a darker color and the things that you want to bump out with a brighter color. As darker/brighter the color, the more will the parts be bumped in/out
My bump map looks like this:
4. If you are done, select the bump map layer and add a grayscalecopy mask to it and apply it
5. Save the texture with the extension _bump as usual
6. Open your model with meshtool, type in bumpmap and select the material that you want to be bump mapped
7. Enjoy your bump mapped object ingame

Re: Bumpmapping tut
First of all thank you very much! But i got one question, this:
Is this something you do in GIMP? Im using Photoshop. If you could explain to me what this does to the layer i can find out how to do the same in Photoshop. Is "a greyscalecopy mask" in other words make the whole thing grayscale or something?4. if you are done, select the bumpmaplayer and add a greyscalecopy mask to it anfd apply it

Yes, the root of that is that you need to make sure everything is greyscaled.fai222 wrote:First of all thank you very much! But i got one question, this:Is this something you do in GIMP? Re: Bumpmapping tut

Re: Bumpmapping tut
So, do you have to make a SEPARATE texture in XSI that matches ur bumpmap? or do you just select the overall texture that is applied to your model, cus my model only ahs 1 texture.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:i can

Re: Bumpmapping tut
No, you make a seperate one in a photo editor, which you then apply via meshtool.CodaRez wrote:So, do you have to make a SEPARATE texture in XSI that matches ur bumpmap? or do you just select the overall texture that is applied to your model, cus my model only ahs 1 texture.
