Wow, nice update Sky its been awhile...

However does have random weather......ie clear or a light rain of meteors.
Oooh... a meteor would be cool.

Torvik: Sunken City
Well, Xavious has kindly donated his great Torvik: Sunken City map (it was in the first SWBF2 Files contest). I improved it slightly (added a bunch of hint nodes, supplies and a boundary). Very nice map, also the smallest current DS map (aside from some of "the random map" maps which don't really count).

Elite
Also, Elite difficulty is now fully implemented. It works very simply - if you play a Last Days era battle on elite difficulty the AI shoot more accurately and all weapons do 50-150% more damage. Explosion damage can't be changed though, so gameplay will is more focused on blaster weapons than grenades.





Oh and something else just at random...i've found probably the funnest kill you can score in DS is to use either of the mercenaries and go and knife the opposing hero...then shoot him repeatedly when he gets knocked over.

Hehe, I've always loved doing that to enemies. :)

Torvik was a great map, I'm glad to see it added to the mod.

Loadscreen Update:

Decided to do planet renders for loadscreens, reminiscent of BF1. Here's Ark Mion.
Nebula background is dA stock.

Reiva: Tranquil Plains

New (actually old unreleased but environment redone) map set in a rocky canyon with open expanses of grey ground. There will be a large vehicle battle in this map. Might also replace the DS 1 Sraiden with this map and make a small volcanic map for Sraiden.

For DS V2 you're looking at at least four new maps (probably five) by the way, including Reiva and Torvik. Apart from Reiva they all feature close quarters fighting, and one features dogfights *hint hint*.

Interesting concept for a planet, the terrain seems sterile, yet the weird orange fungi clearly has thrived in the lifeless soil, it's a nice contrast.

Will be waiting for future updates on those dogfights, and yeah... it's nice to hear from you again. :P

It looks amazing, as always.. But somehow I don't like the mix of the orange/brownish flora with all the gray.. some more orangish/brownish should be used I think, or the flora should be desaturated a bit..

But still, WAAAAY beyond awesome :thumbs:

Thanks y'all. The colour scheme (very dull blue grey + orange) was a bit of an experiment, wanted to see the effects of using two contrasting colours. Probably will keep orange as is - a lot of DS maps are very dull (colour wise) as is.

As for the next couple of map updates .....keep an eye on the XSI 3D modelling thread if you want sneak peeks.

Assets Release
A lot of the prop/texture assets for these new maps will be released. Some won't (big caves that can't really be reused, dogfighting map main base) because they can't really be used in another map in a different way.
Most sides stuff won't be released. This is because it is a gigantic jumbled mess and contains large chunks that belong to others. Bits and pieces (new weapon models, some unit models + effects) will be released though.


Announcement
OK, I'll be busy with other stuff for at least the next month, so don't expect any updates for a while. When I do come back hopefully I'll have an update with the last 'big' feature for DS. A few DS things will probably be sacrificed for it (eg the random Adon Fel map is being 'canabilised'), but if you like SP BF2 you'll probably like it.

Oh and it'll include a lot of new, small file size maps, most of which you won't be able to play conquest on.

Semester's over, so I have time to mod, and I figured out was messing up my BF2 main game so can actually play non-modtools, so I have the motivation to mod.

Expect pretty regular updates on DS over the next month. :D
