Steam wont open

Every time I click on the steam shortcut it just wont open. Im currently running on windows 8 if that helps

Is Steam already running? Have you restarted your computer? Check the Task Manager. Try navigating to the directory and running the executable.

I'm having steam issues again. When ever I delete and try to reopen steam it just gives me this
Error opening file for writing
c:/program file (x86)/steam/steam.exe

Have you tried a simple restart of your computer (it solves a buttload of problems usually).
