Particle Editor Update (September 1st, 2007)

Post by -_- »

I've wanted to get this up quite a while ago, but I got lazy.

The application itself has not been modified, but all BF1 & BF2 shipped effects/textures are now supported and can be viewed within Particle Editor.
You can download it HERE.

Just move both the munged folder and the .exe into this directory, and it should work like a charm.

Cool that someone finally got this fixed, but uhm ,what's with all the other stuff in there as well?

EDIT: Not all of them can be viewed. I just tried the sonicblaster effect and it crashed on me.

You'll need the munged files along with the Particle Editor in order to view any .fx's. If you installed it properly, it should work flawlessly.

And just to prove geo_blunderbuss_blast works..

You can download the .dll somewhere. Get the name and google it. There's also a link in the modding FAQ if you have any other trouble.

I just realized that I didn't package a readme.txt along with the stuff I uploaded, that kind of explains why, LOL.

I personally placed mine in
LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC
Just move both the munged folder and the .exe into this directory, and it should work like a charm.

very nice, but i cant seem to find the link though

nice work if it works, have been doing particleeditor since a while, but i have a virus that makes maps crash often when i munge, the pc reboots itself, and the map is lost.....

theres 1 question: the effect i edited and saved as com_sfx_timebomb2 was not munged, and u cant see anything, how is that possible?

note: i dont have particleeditor in bf2/gamedata/data/_lvl_pc but in bfmodtools/data/_build/lvl_pc, that make it appear in bfmodtools/data_map/_lvl_pc

BTW, whatever happened to the glamor effects topic?

yeah caleb your effect is really cool, cant wait for the map to be released :D

although i still have the question, how do you add a new effect *an explosion, not a map effect*, because it does not show up on my map, i will explain what i did.

I downloaded particleeditor, put it into data/_build/lvl_pc
put it together with the .dll and munged and ingame.lvl (it cant seem to find the common.lvl i put in there)

i made a new effect, put it into common/effects, i tried one in sides/rep/effects but it all didnt work

i even modded a rep effect, but it didnt show up either,

can anyone help me with it?

I don't really understand what this update does. Most of the effects (if not all of them) have always worked for me. Does this update apply that fix that you have to do for it to get it to work? Did that sentence even make sense? It didn't for me. :P

Basically you have to put a bunch of munged files in a folder to get it to work or something like that. But I can't see how an update would fix that. Could someone just briefly explain what this fixes? Thanks.

Certain effects would crash PE if you tried to view them, the sonic blaster effect was one of them. Setting up this update correctly will fix that issue, and allow you to view them.
