Re: Major problem with Zero Editor in Vista (FAQ)

No, there is (if I remember) a driver in your Graphic card, but also one on your Hard Disk that integrates with your OS.
So you don't have the exact same driver anymore.

Ah, I see. That noted, BF2 does work. Ought I roll back my driver, then? Does ZE work with the one I have?

Can someone please help me? I am running windows 7 64-bit on a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics card and I have tried everything but ZE still doesn't work :( :( . The error message is: ZE has encountered an error and needs to close. It didn't do this when I first used it. Please help me!!

I noticed that ZE works on official maps with no probs. It is only on custom maps when you have to load them. Please Help!!!!!!!!!

A) get rid of vista :?
B) Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware And Sound -> NVIDIA Control Panel => Help -> System Information -> Details --> Driver Version

c)
Hidden/Spoiler:
How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed
To determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed, locate the %systemroot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder. To open this folder, you can paste this address into a Windows Explorer address bar. The following folders contain the released versions of the .NET Framework:
v3.5
v3.0
v2.0.50727
v1.1.4322
v1.0.3705
Note If you see other folders that have a vN.N.NXXXX format, they may contain beta versions or pre-released versions of the .NET Framework. Those versions are outside the scope of this article.

To determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed on a computer, follow these steps:
1.Open any one of the folders in the previous list.
2.Right-click the Mscorlib.dll file, and then click Properties.
3.Click the Version tab, and then note the file version.
4.Use the previous list to determine which version of the .NET Framework is installed on the computer, and then click OK.
Repeat these steps for each version of the .NET Framework on the computer.
Then post what you have.

I'd actually forgotten about this until recently. Sorry. :P

Does ZE work for you? Yes.
What edition of Vista or Windows 7 are you running? Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2)
What graphics card are you currently using? ATI RADEON 3870
What's the current driver version of your gfx card? Catalyst 10.2
Did you upgrade an old XP machine to Vista or Windows 7 or purchase it already installed? I installed Vista fresh on a newly built machine.
Are you running 32 or 64 bit? 32 bit
What version of Microsoft .NET Framework do you currently have installed? 1.0.3705, 1.1.4322, 2.0.50727, 3.0, and 3.5

Additional info plucked from CCC:

Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0728
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9551

ZE has almost never been a problem for me, and this system is 2 or 3 years old now. It could be in part because I update regularly, but the only time ZE gave me any trouble at all was when I developed some odd problem with a context menu handler linked to SecuROM. I should have a post on that issue floating about the forum somewhere.
