How to dual boot Vista with XP (with Vista installed first)
How to dual boot Vista with XP (with XP installed first)
How to triple boot Vista, XP and Ubuntu
How to quad boot Vista, XP, Linux, MacOS

Just remember I'm not responsible for data loss, so back up all your data first.

Sorry for the bump, but I'm pretty sure that we're allowed to bump stickies, right?
If not, sorry.

Well, I'm planning on dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows 98 on a Pentium 3, and I'm just wondering: Would any of these tutorials would work with that dual boot?

I honestly don't know. I'd try just using the same instructions.. Install 98, repartition, install Ubuntu. Assuming you back up all the data, there isn't anything to lose, so I'd just give it a go.

Also, this is for an older version of Ubuntu, and I haven't had time to get the newer version working yet. The installation instructions will probably vary slightly, but if you're comfortable with computers it shouldn't be too hard.

Well, my Dad basically took one look at what had to be done, and did it. Without even using a tutorial. Lol, I wish I was that good with computers :P
But anyways, yeah. It's all working and stuff. It's pretty sweet :)

After having alot of compatibility issues with older programs in Windows 7, I've been seriously thinking about doing a dual boot with XP. Seems to be the best solution.

However, you can only use that program if you've got Pro, Ultimate or Enterprise.

It's just a pre-configured Virtual PC with XP installed

Dang it's been a while. I can hardly believe this is still here o_o

Since the original post appears to have been lost:
-XP is largely irrelevant anymore; Win7 is fast enough that there's next to no speed boost from using XP instead.
-Ubuntu's progressed to the point where it can automatically split your drive (through the installer) or be installed on your Windows drive using Wubi, which is by far the easiest method at this point. Since it's so much easier now, there's no need for a dedicated tutorial (Wubi = regular application installation, partition-based = download CD, burn, boot, run installer, choose partition size, go).
