500 mission limit stuff [Solved]
I have found plenty of forums about people complaining about it, but has there been a fix?
I'm a bit tired of having several game installs, just for separate big mods. This is wasting too much GBs on my small drive.
Trying to combine:
BFX 2.2
Convopack 2.2
+123 mod, I think there is more than one mod named +123, this one is the one that adds +151 missions to the regular maps.
Some maps crash in SP, some don't, I surely can't test every single 600+ missions and find out which ones.
I'm open to solutions.

Re: 500 mission limit stuff
Having multiple game installs seems like a pretty insane overkill solution to the problem (which, no, doesn't have a fix per se). Why aren't you just swapping your mods in and out of your addon folder like (I assume) everyone else?

Yeah, I've never heard anyone having multiple game installs to circumvent this issue. I've always just renamed the addme.script when I wanted to deactivate a mod, it even saves the trouble of moving the entire folder.

Re: 500 mission limit stuff
I just have multiple addon folders that I rotate around, each one loosely following a "theme".

Best solution: I don't have over 500 mission

I don't have SWBF1, but this solution will work as well

Makes me want to use my limited knowledge of batch file editing to make a .bat that you can use to easily swap in and out many addme.luas simultaneously (unless such a thing already exists).THEWULFMAN wrote:Yeah, I've never heard anyone having multiple game installs to circumvent this issue. Re: 500 mission limit stuff
Or you write and programm with graphical user unterface that let you add /remove mods via addme swap and than starts the game. So you need to run only one exe and you are asked for what mods/maps you like at each start.

Eh, I'm not so good with C, Java, etc. I can do Lua and some batch, and limited C++. Maybe given enough time I can whip something up.

Re: 500 mission limit stuff
You wouldn't write an graphical user interface in c. You would take cpp, java, or what ever. But you'd only use c if you write something directly on the hardware (microcontroller,...).

I know, all I meant is that most of the major languages are currently beyond what I know how to use. I'll try and make something in C++ or Java sometime in the next few weeks.

There was a PreBeta release after that one with a better GUI and more features, but the Map Manager never turned into what I wanted it to be nor did I ever finish it. However for just moving maps between two folders it should work. Feel free to make something better. The Map Manager is way over kill for moving maps around.

Re: 500 mission limit stuff
I forgot to put [Solved] in this topic's title. I found Wulf's fix to be the easiest; rename addme files.
